About
Jonathan Mason, D.O., CAQSM, is a native Texan and assistant professor in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care with a joint appointment in the Department of Population Health at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. He also serves as a university professional physician for Texas Athletics and is a team physician for the NBA G League’s Austin Spurs.
Mason earned his undergraduate degree in Neurobiology from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from Midwestern University. He completed his residency in family medicine at Dell Medical School and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Wake Forest University.
His clinical and research interests include diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasonography, sport related concussion and musculoskeletal injuries in runners. He is especially interested in delivering value-based care for athletes of all levels, from recreational to elite.
Mason also enjoys medical education and has taught learners across various levels through lectures, workshops and hands-on ultrasound training. He was recognized with the STFM Resident Teacher Award and has presented nationally and internationally on sports medicine topics.
