About

James Stuart Ferriss is an assistant professor of gynecologic oncology in the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School. Ferriss grew up in Louisiana and was inspired to become a doctor because of his parents’ nursing careers. He completed his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Virginia. He has affiliations with several professional groups including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is a fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons.

Ferriss is an expert in the care of women with cancers of the uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries. He is passionate about minimally invasive approaches to surgery and increasing the inclusivity of cancer research trials to help patients access leading-edge treatment.

He is a member of the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes and is a cancer liaison physician for the Commission on Cancer at Seton Family of Hospitals. Ferriss has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Austin and is a grant-funded cancer researcher, currently leading several clinical trials.
