About
Helen Eshed is an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School. A specialist in gynecologic oncology, she currently practices at Texas Oncology. She completed her medical degree at Albany Medical College and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of California, Davis. She went on to complete a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology and is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Eshed specializes in the care of women with gynecologic cancers including cervical, uterine or endometrial, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal cancers. Eshed has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery, complex pelvic surgery and radical cytoreductive surgery for advanced cancers, as well as chemotherapeutic and novel biologic treatments for gynecologic cancers.
She is involved in clinical trials to individualize patient care and improve patients’ outcomes and quality of life. She has authored more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications and presents lectures nationally and internationally on research in gynecologic cancers. She was the recipient of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award grant for her research efforts in minimally invasive gynecologic cancer surgery.
In addition to her clinical, academic and research pursuits, Eshed has competed in many marathons and triathlons, including the USAT Olympic National Championships and Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
