Erich Grethel, M.D., FACS

About

Erich Grethel is a affiliate faculty for the Departments of Pediatrics and Surgery and Perioperative Care. He was born and raised in Southern California. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in behavioral biology, he attended Harvard Medical School. He completed general surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco, where his research focus was on the treatment of congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

Grethel completed his pediatric surgical fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery-General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association and the Travis County Medical Society.
