About
Claire Sokas is a colon and rectal surgeon in Digestive Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension and UT Health Austin. She specializes in the treatment and prevention of colon, rectal and anal cancers; surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease; and management of benign colon and anorectal conditions, such as diverticulitis and hemorrhoids. She has a particular interest in women’s health and bowel disorders, including constipation, rectal prolapse and rectocele and fecal incontinence.
She earned her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College and her Master’s in Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, a research fellowship at the Center for Surgery and Public Health at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota.
