About
Claire Sokas, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon in Digestive Health, a clinical partnership between Ascension and UT Health Austin. She specializes in the treatment and prevention of colon, rectal and anal cancers; surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease; management of benign colon and anorectal conditions; and women’s health.
Sokas earned her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College and her master’s in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a research fellowship at the Center for Surgery and Public Health, and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Sokas’ research focuses on understanding what matters most to patients facing surgery, especially older adults.
