About
Christiana Oji-Mmuo, MBBS, FAAP, is a board-certified neonatologist with a rich and diverse professional background that spans three continents: Africa, Europe, and North America. She received her medical degree from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria in 2004. After completing her pediatric and fellowship training, Oji-Mmuo worked as a neonatology faculty at Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania, for nine years before moving to Austin in 2023.
Her extensive clinical research expertise includes managing neonatal pain, stress and drug withdrawal. She is committed to addressing complex neonatal conditions with compassionate care. She has published over 20-peer reviewed articles. Oji-Mmuo is also deeply invested in the realms of academic clinical medicine and graduate medical education. Her dedication to mentorship has guided many young medical professionals in their careers, fostering a new generation of health care leaders.
Oji-Mmuo is active in local and national and medical societies, including the Society for Pediatric Research, American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Women in Neonatology, Section on International Medical Graduates and hold a committee appointment for the AAP’s SOIMG society. With her unique international perspective and unwavering commitment to excellence, Oji-Mmuo continues to make significant contributions to the field of neonatology and beyond.
