About

Anitha Reddy, M.D., has practiced as a primary care staff physician and designated women’s health primary care physician providing comprehensive primary and women’s health care at the Austin VA Clinic since 2007. With her compassionate and caring personality, Reddy strives to ensure that each patient receives the best care possible. She strongly believes that the practice of medicine entails more than remembering and dispensing medicines, and that it requires exercising the mind, body and heart, along with a genuine respect for life. Despite a busy schedule at work, Reddy enjoys great rapport with her patients and their caregivers, and she strongly believes that these connections bring profound meaning to her professional life. Her primary areas of interest include patient and caregiver education on preventing diseases and promoting healing.

As the women’s health medical director for the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, Reddy serves as a clinical leader and subject matter expert for women’s health. She collaborates with facility leadership and primary care leadership on providing comprehensive women’s health care at all sites of care in the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. Reddy collaborates on clinical quality improvement pertaining to the elimination of gender disparities in women veterans’ health care.

Reddy is part of the Women’s Health Practice-Based Research Network, a national network of VA facilities partnering for multisite research and evidence-based quality improvement collaboratives to support equitable benefit of VA research through greater inclusion of women veterans and to expand funding of research focused on women veterans. As the network’s site lead for Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, Reddy works closely with local clinicians, staff, leaders and researchers, and she supports principal investigators on local studies.

Outside of work, Reddy participates in community service with her family, practices yoga and meditation, and reads memoirs and autobiographies. Reddy values her roles as a mentor and teacher and is deeply committed to the educational mission that the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System shares with Dell Medical School and The University of Texas at Austin.
