About
Amar Vira is originally from Chicago where he went to Northwestern University for both his undergraduate degree and medical school. He went to the University of Arizona for residency in emergency medicine, where he also served as chief resident. He discovered a passion for teaching and pursued an ultrasound fellowship at The Ohio State University. He moved to Austin in 2015 to join Dell Medical School’s emergency medicine faculty, where he is a medical director of one of the Ascension Seton hospitals and now director of ultrasound education for the residency program. He is very excited with the opportunity to help medical residents hone their ultrasound skills and incorporate this technology into every day practice in a new way.
Vira loves living in Austin with his wife, Ami, and their two kids and small dog. When they find time after chasing around their two young kids, they like to explore the city’s amazing restaurants, bars and parks. Vira also likes to learn new sports, including biking, tennis and golf.
