Dell Medical School's 21st-century facilities anchor Austin’s health district and form a laboratory for medical education, clinical care, research and health care redesign.
Described by Texas Architect as “a place of collaboration and openness, a hive of learning,” our Health Learning Building serves as the primary academic home for students. The magazine notes that a five-story open stairwell, visible from the courtyard through glass panels, creates a “dramatic social edge” fostering interaction and a sense of community. With the building’s sweeping views of Austin, public art that evokes healing, and space to facilitate the latest in medical education, it’s no wonder that Dell Med catches the eye of architects and future physician leaders alike.
The Health Learning Building, certified Gold by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, includes a 150-seat auditorium used to host our Austin neighbors, rooms with flexible configurations, and plenty of spaces designed to bring people together.
Researchers from all over campus — some of the world’s best — will make their home in the wet and dry labs in the Health Discovery Building, where they’ll also have access to advanced imaging equipment. A technology incubator will help bring their discoveries to market.
Health Transformation Building
Until now, we haven’t had a direct avenue to quickly bring UT researchers’ discoveries to people who can benefit. But this building will change that, with doctors’ offices, an ambulatory surgical center, demonstration clinics, and a bridge to the Health Discovery Building. (More info coming soon!)
