Kirsten Nieto Is Dell Seton’s Physician of the Year

Jan. 20, 2021

Kirsten Nieto, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and associate chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine, has been named Physician of the Year at Dell Seton Medical Center.

Physician of the Year recipients are selected by their peers, making this a particularly significant and meaningful honor. Those who nominated Nieto referenced the major impact she had in shaping the care of patients with COVID-19 at Dell Seton and creating a positive environment for colleagues and patients.

A well-deserved honor for Nieto, this achievement also reflects her work to advance Dell Med’s values of serving the community and increasing diversity, equity and inclusion. Notably, she is the first physician and first woman at Dell Med to win this award while serving as a regular faculty member, which highlights the quality of the expertise, leadership and commitment to outstanding service and high-value care that Dell Med faculty members bring to the school’s clinical partnerships. She also receives this award as a leader on the faculty relatively early in her career, which is a marker of her extraordinary impact.
