About

Marcela Carolina Castillo is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She completed medical school and residency training at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital. Following residency, she went on to complete a global women’s health fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which allowed her to gain experience in clinical research and medical care in Zambia. As part of her fellowship training, she completed a Master of Science in clinical research through the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and she was a clinical instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Castillo’s interests include medical education, health systems improvement, and care for diverse populations with differing cultural and social backgrounds. She has been invited to present her work at the national and international levels, and she is a reviewer for the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Castillo is a junior fellow for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
